Shelly Fredenberg - Drifting Still

This beautiful stoneware vessel was made by ceramicist and sculptor Shelly Fredenberg of Eugene, Ore. Shelly's work is a tribute to the natural world, its processes and possibilities, as well as its impossibilities.

This piece was hand-built and displays a satin glaze and oxide exterior and a layered oxide and glossy glaze interior. The outermost edges have a textured crawl glaze.

It was created from a single ball of clay with nothing added or removed. Shelly first opened the center of the ball of clay and then coaxed the ridges thinner and thinner. The texture around the body of the piece was achieved by pressing a variety of small stones into the clay, to achieve organic movement and patterning.

Dimensions: W 12" x H 7.5" (Measurements are approximate and taken at the widest points).
